Notes:  This article presents the findings of a study of prevalence and factors associated with being a victim of violence among Australian Indigenous women with dependent children. Using data from the 2002 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Survey, the findings reveal that one in four women will be victims of violence in the previous year. The study also examined the factors of residing in remote versus urban locations, having been removed from their natural family in childhood and age.
