Title: | Women and Homelessness: The Response Should Start with Empowerment |
Other Titles: | Parity |
Authors: | Bawden, Cassandra |
Year: | 2010 |
Citation: | No 10 Vol.: 23 |
Notes: | A victim of domestic violence who becomes homeless narrates her experience of trying to find suitable accommodation through the homelessness service system. As a mother the experience made her feel that she was failing her children and that she and her children had been completely isolated from society. She is happy that a new approach that will allow women who have experienced domestic violence to stay in their home and to remove the perpetrator is mooted which might lead to greater empowerment. |
