Notes:	Also published in DVIRC Newsletter Autumn Edition, February 2001 Out of the Fire: Domestic Violence and Homelessness is a series of articles about issues concerning domestic violence, homelessness and the policy context in which these issues arise. The publication is a collaborative effort between the Domestic Violence and Incest Resource Centre (DVIRC), the NSW Women’s Refuge Resource Centre and the Council to Homeless Persons and as such it reflects broader issues confronting all states and territories in Australia. The topics selected in the publication are a direct response to extensive consultation conducted with the constituencies of all three participating organisations. Particular attention is given to government policy directions, research, the law and key issues such as women with a mental illness and immigrant women. Specific focus is also given to particular services and programmes in the ACT, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory that have developed unique responses to the complex issues concerned with domestic violence and homelessness.
