This code of practice is designed to assist programs in being more effective when delivering court-based legal assistance for victims of family violence. The guidelines were specifically written for lawyers and program staff in Victoria. The primary purpose of the guidelines is to clearly define the role of community legal centres; provide a model of best practice; promote a consistent response; promote accessible, high quality and accountable services for intervention order applicants; and inform effective collaboration.
