Discussion: :The action plan is based on the principles that the family unit is the basic structure of traditional Indigenous culture and must be preserved, and that family violence is not, and never has been, a part of traditional culture. The plan calls for community driven initiatives, a regional awareness campaign, a state wide awareness campaign, improvements to service provision, the collection of appropriate statistics and a common terminology.
