Notes: | This is the Homeswest family and domestic violence policy in Western Australia which outlines and brings together the guidelines and practices on housing and accommodation assistance available. It acknowledges that Women’s Refuges Services and other supported accommodation services play a role in implementing this policy. It outlines the policy on eligibility for assistance due to domestic violence and related guidelines and practices, assessment criteria for establishing domestic violence, priority eligibility requirements, the type of assistance provided including the policy on emergency housing, priority assistance, bond assistance for private rental accommodation and a referral to a crisis accommodation agency. Assistance to remain for current tenants includes the use of a Violence Restraining Order. Policy also includes privacy, confidentiality and duty of care. Required training for Homeswest officers is outlined. Guidelines and practices on owners or joint owners of property and applicants with joint tenancies with the perpetrator including the daily care and control of the children are included. A 2003 list of support or referral agencies for assisting in situations of domestic violence is provided. |
