Describes the policy aims as twofold: to reduce the incidence of domestic violence through primary and secondary prevention approaches; and to minimise the trauma that people living with domestic violence experience, through tertiary prevention approaches, ongoing treatment and follow-up counselling. The policy introduces a new preventative strategy involving universal routine screening for domestic violence in services where significant numbers of women have been found to be at risk. This is supported by sustainable staff training and coordination within the NSW Health system.
