Notes:  These guidelines present the best standards for conducting ethical research with Indigenous people in Australia. They comprise 14 principles grouped under the broad categories of rights, respect and recognition; negotiation, consultation, agreement and mutual understanding; participation, collaboration and partnership; benefits, outcomes and giving back; managing research: use, storage and access; and reporting and compliance. The document presents each principle and guidance on how they can be implemented. It is intended primarily for research proposals sponsored by the Institute, and updates the 2nd edition published in 2010.
