Notes: | A comic for Aboriginal men about domestic violence. The story follows Tom who physically abuses his wife and child on a regular basis. Tom knows that the violence is wrong but doesn't seem to be able to control his temper, particularly when he's been drinking. When he seriously injures his son, Tom realises he needs help. His brother puts him in contact with a men's support group to get the help he needs to stop the cycle of violence. The comic addresses the unique cultural implications of male family violence in Aboriginal communities, particularly the issue of shame. Contains information about community support services and contact numbers in NSW that young Aboriginal men can call for assistance and advice. |
