Notes:  This pamphlet, produced by Rosemount Good Shepherd Youth and Family Services, provides an introduction to the nature, forms, prevalence and theoretical/sociological explanations for adolescent violence. Some of the links between adolescent violence towards parents and other forms of violence, such as child abuse, domestic violence and media violence, are explored and common intervention strategies currently being used to address the issue are discussed. The groupwork programme developed by the Meridian Youth and Family Counselling Team at Anglicare, Victoria is used to illustrate the utility of a ‘multifaceted approach’ and the need to raise further awareness in this area is highlighted. Included is a bibliography of useful literature in the area of adolescent violence against parents and a section on useful services in Australia that work with adolescents who are violent towards their parents.
