For the person who is experiencing domestic violence information is provided to assist in making informed choices on how best to deal with their situation and advise them of the protection available to them under the Domestic Violence (Family Protection) Act. For the Perpetrator, this information will assist them to understand that their behaviour is unacceptable and the extent to which the Act can be used to stop them continuing such behaviour.
