A background to the purpose and utility generally of competency standards is presented, and the specific ways in which the PADV competency standards will become part of the already-endorsed Community Services Training Package are outlined. How the standards might be incorporated into existing organisational training packages is addressed and sample qualification requirements for a range of professional contexts included. The national assessment and training processes that will be used to implement the standards are also set out in a series of flow charts and tables.
