Notes:  A panel of service providers and researchers presents evidence and views that either support or contradict the assertion that men are equally victims of domestic violence. Canvasses men as victims of women’s violence, men and women who experience violence in gay and lesbian relationships, men as victims of public violence and men who identify as victims who may be perpetrators of violence. Two research approaches are discussed, and different results are obtained from these approaches. The conflict tactics approach measures discrete acts of violence; a feminist approach considers context, intentionality and effects of violence. Fatality statistics and other evidence indicate that the major risk for men is public violence. The panel and audience give a range of views on the usefulness of legal, socio-cultural and psychological approaches to domestic violence.
