dc.description.notes"Family and domestic violence (FDV) are significant public health and social issues. They include intimate partner violence (IPV)—violence between two intimate partners; and family violence (FV)—violence between family members other than intimate partners. The negative consequences of FDV include physical injury, depression, suicide and post-traumatic stress disorder. Risk factors contributing to FDV include alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. This can be modified at individual and environmental levels offering significant avenues for intervention.<br/ ><br/ >This project sought to investigate:<br/ >* the relationship between AOD use and FDV in the Australian population;<br/ >* key demographic and environmental factors associated with different types of FDV;<br/ >* differences between AOD-involved and non-AOD-involved cases; and<br/ >* major trends in FDV incidents attended by police."<br/ ><br/ >From intro to Key Findings<br/ ><br/ ><br/ >open sourceen
