This report summarises key findings from ANROWS research evaluating the Child-At-Risk (CAR) electronic medical record (eMR) alert system implemented in Northern NSW Local Health District. The alert is triggered when health workers report concerns about children or pregnant women to child protection services, and appears on the patient’s eMR to prompt action by clinicians. The evaluation surveyed health professionals about the alert’s utility, impact on referral and information-sharing practices, and its effectiveness in supporting vulnerable clients. Findings indicate that while many workers found the system useful and confidence-building, gaps remain in understanding, training, and consistency of use. The report outlines implications for national expansion, user engagement, system design, and workforce development to improve responses to interpersonal violence, abuse and neglect.en
