In response to concerns for the safety of women and their children who are at risk of family violence and are involved in the family law system, the Federal Government funded a pilot program in July 2009 to provide assistance to such families. The Women’s Legal Service Brisbane was commissioned by the Attorney-General’s Department to develop a model for coordinated family dispute resolution (CFDR), a process where conflicting parents are assisted with post-separation parenting arrangements.<br/ ><br/ >The pilot program was implemented in five sites across Australia: Perth (Legal Aid Western Australia), Brisbane (Relationships Australia Queensland), Newcastle (Interrelate), Western Sydney (Unifam) and Hobart (Relationships Australia Tasmania). It ran from late 2010 to 31 August 2012.<br/ >This evaluation of the CFDR process was funded by the Attorney-General’s Department and involved a mixed-method approach utilising a number of data collections including case file data, qualitative interviews with professional staff, and online surveys.en
