This report gives an overview of the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, Ms Rashida Manjoo's visit to Australia, co-hosted by the Australian Human Rights Commission and the Australian Government (Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA)). The study tour provided an opportunity for dialogue between governments, community organisations and Australian women about the violence against women. This document details the main issues raised during the visit, characterised by its three objectives: to gather information on violence against women; to gather information on culture and violence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities; and to identify strategies to eliminate violence against women.en
