dc.description.notes | This NGO report is a response to CEDAW's (Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women) inquiry to the Australian Government regarding progress on tackling the problem of violence against women. The report argues that Australia’s National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women (2010 – 22) needs to invest in services for women and children who have experienced or are experiencing violence and abuse, and needs a stronger focus on long-term sustained primary prevention of violence against women. In relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women the report argues for improvements in access to education and skills development, health and social services, culturally-appropriate legal services and leadership training and opportunities. | en |
