This report presents the findings of a study of domestic violence service provision and gaps for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex (GLBTI) communities in NSW. The research used interviews with 65 service providers and nine individuals who had experienced same sex domestic violence. The study examined data collection, competence and confidence in working with GLBTI individuals, agency needs to provide better services, strategies and barriers to inclusion, and key challenges for mainstream service providers. In conclusion, the authors outline recommendations for mainstream and GLBTI organisations as well as recommendations related to specific populations, including rural and regional communities; intersex clients; gay, bisexual and transgender men; and GLBTI families.
