W cat. no. HOU 156<br/ >Based on research conducted by the Supported Accommodation Assistance Scheme Data Collection Agency, this report provides an overview of the extent and types of assistance given to clients by the scheme, a typology of client groups and the reasons they seek support, as well as a summary of the overall effectiveness of the scheme in improving client circumstances.<br/ ><br/ >The findings indicate the most common reasons people seek assistance from the scheme are domestic or family violence, relationship or family breakdown, and other financial difficulty, and that reasons differ significantly for men and women, with more women citing the former two reasons. A greater number of support periods were provided to females seeking accommodation than to males and a total of 22% of all those seeking support were women with accompanying children.en
