dc.description.notes"An Australian government initiative".<br/ >See also "Improving women's safety : literature review" on our Research & Resources database.<br/ >Reports the findings and recommendations of a project conducted by Health Outcomes International for the 'Men Who Use Violence' stream of the Partnerships Against Domestic Violence initiative. The project aimed to assess the availability and effectiveness of legal and other strategies enabling women who have experienced spousal violence to remain in their homes. The first three sections of the report provide an overview of the methodology and key issues and a review of relevant literature and legislation. Good practice interventions being developed across Australia to provide victims of violence with the option of remaining in their homes are also described. On the basis of the consultations and research conducted for the project, a framework of interventions designed to assist and support women and their children to remain at home safely is developed. The framework is constructed through the integration of eight key components, including a Family Violence Court; Interventions for Victims and Perpetrators; Interventions for Police and Magistrates; Legislative reforms and other strategies. The report concludes with an overview and evaluation of the framework pilot.en
