Provides statistical information of the incidence of attempted and completed rapes and sexual assaults from 1992 to 2000 in the United States. The data were yielded from the National Crime Victimization Survey. Since the figures reveal a scarce number of incidents experienced by men, the paper focuses on female victims. The findings show the prevalence of injuries, the frequency of medical treatment, and the reporting rate. The correlation between the relationship of the victim and perpetrator and the likelihood of reporting is examined. The reasons that prevented the reporting of the crimes are also explored.en
