Notes: | While many women experiencing domestic violence do not contact specialist crisis services, they do approach a range of helping professionals, including general practitioners. While this group potentially has a very important role in identifying domestic violence and in providing assistance, information and non-judgemental support, there is commonly reluctance to ask about violence. Reports on a project to enhance: general practitioners’ understanding of issues relating to family violence; knowledge of specialist service providers; and to increase early identification and appropriate referrals. Describes the training and resource development project and the learning arising from the consultation and implementation process. Contains training materials, including stories from survivors. |
