dc.description.notes | This project is funded by Partnerships Against Domestic Violence (PADV) to improve the meeting of children’s needs by providing training resources for professionals working with children experiencing domestic violence. It relies on a strengths-based practice framework, which focuses on the strengths, capacities and possibilities in the process of change, and to guide intervention strategies with modelling choices rather than determining outcomes. As a framework, it provides a frame of reference, set of standards and principles to guide the choice of intervention strategies rather than as a set of therapeutic techniques. Part 1 describes the framework and the principles, and the dilemmas that can happen when different paradigms converge. Part 2 introduces the strengths-based approaches and invites professionals to refresh their thinking on ideas or compare them to other frameworks on which their practice is based. Part 3 explores the importance of family and other significant adults, as well as identifying processes to strengthen the adult resources that exist in the child’s natural networks. Part 4 examines practices that assist professionals and others both in the child’s benefit and to give priority to the child’s world view. Part 4 looks at the organisational and professional requirements for supporting good therapeutic practice and ensuring appropriate network and community capacity building. | en |
