No. HOU 91 Based on research conducted by the Supported Accommodation Assistance Scheme Data Collection Agency, this report provides an overview of the extent and types of assistance given to clients by the scheme, a typology of client groups and the reasons they seek support, as well as a summary of the overall effectiveness of the scheme in improving client circumstances. Assistance given to accompanying children is also quantified and the kinds of support most commonly provided are identified. The findings indicate the most common reasons people seek assistance from the scheme are domestic violence, relationship or family breakdown, eviction and loss of usual accommodation, and that reasons differ significantly for men and women, with more women citing the former two reasons. Although more males sought accommodation support, women seeking assistance were much more likely to have children.
