Presents an overview of literature addressing the ‘interface’ between dementia, elder abuse and domestic violence, highlighting the role of social constructions of older people in silencing the issue, before reviewing some of the theoretical approaches to elder abuse and domestic violence, and drawing attention to the absence of research specifically examining dementia as a factor. Some of the legal issues associated with elder abuse generally and responses by criminal justice and social service agencies to the incidence of elder abuse are discussed and directions for future research, policy and practice are identified.en
