dc.description.notes | Developed under a grant from the US Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice, this guide sets out the aims, methodology and findings of a study directed at documenting and analysing service responses to children exposed to domestic violence in a range of communities across North America. The research method included a mail survey of law enforcement agencies, a telephone survey of police and service providers, and five case studies of specific communities. The comparative advantages and disadvantages of responses in each of the communities visited are discussed and a series of recommendations, based on the recognition of the need for follow up, coordination, referral and an increase in resources and research to assist the development of ‘best practice’, are made. | en |
