Reports a project designed to identify domestic and family violence services available in the Northern Territory to inform the planning and purchase of such services. The study focused on the services of the health and health-related sectors and the programme failures. The findings reveal that while urban areas report a comprehensive response, the services in remote areas are ad hoc and sporadic. Case studies undertaken in Yirrkala, Ali Curung and Borroloola emphasise the inadequacy of the services and a lack of interagency coordination in remote communities. It was also detected that health centre staff consider tackling domestic and family violence as not a priority of the service, and were not trained to screen and respond.en
