Provides a summary of the outcomes and structure of Across the Lifespan, one of a series of national forums convened by Partnerships Against Domestic Violence (PADV). Held in December 2001, the forum was aimed at reviewing current knowledge about the forms, incidence and prevalence of violence against women and girls, assessing current responses to these various forms of violence and exploring directions for future intervention and prevention. A background to PADV and its national forums on domestic violence generally is also provided. Key themes identified by participants in the forum included the need for coordinated response to violence against women, for greater accountability of state and federal government funding structures, increasing community involvement in initiatives to address violence against women and recognising the diversity of experiences in practice and policy frameworks. Issues of health, industry standards, housing, education and criminal justice were also seen as primary concerns.en
