Summarises the major findings of the Domestic Violence Client Needs Survey conducted in February - April 1996 and the key recommendations set out in the Queensland Report on the needs of women who have experienced domestic violence, which followed the research study. The need for improved services is identified in a number of areas including rural and remote regions, and the enhancement of staff training, community education and service flexibility is recognised as a priority. Findings in relation to particular service types are then set out and include: feedback on police, health, legal, counselling, social security, church, government and emergency services. Recommendations include the provision of greater resources to be allocated to long-term counselling, the implementation of various financial support schemes, the expansion and/or upgrading of existing services and a range of improvements to training, education, legislation and court processes.en
