See our Research & Resources database for "Domestic violence good practice indicators", a downloadable booklet which discusses the eight indicators developed in this report.
Summarises research activities aimed at recording the range and extent of service provision for families experiencing domestic violence across the United Kingdom. Research encompassed a literature review and mapping survey sent to support services and statutory organisations. The mapping survey was supplemented by consultations with key officers and analysis of policy and procedure documents. Seven services (case studies) are identified and their ability to demonstrate innovative practice is articulated. Research elements (literature review, mapping survey and case studies) were used to develop a framework to promote good practice in domestic violence work. Eight broad indicators of good practice were identified with sub-indicators further describing good practice at operational and strategic levels of service provision. Good practice guidelines relating to perpetrator programmes was developed by an external organisation, RESPECT. Researchers recommend the good practice framework is used to develop minimum standards of service provision and to promote training, screening, policy and interagency activities related to responding to domestic violence.
