Notes:	Research results of the Joint Churches' Domestic Violence Prevention Project which undertook to research the extent and nature of domestic/family violence and abuse within Anglican and Uniting Church congregations. 1, 704 women were surveyed in Brisbane in 1992. Results are categorised as follows: role of the clergy, extent of the abuse, incidence of incest, who are the victims and who are the perpetrators of family violence?, effects on children, and secondary victimisation. Discussion focuses on the extent of the abuse, types and seriousness of the abuse, victim characteristics, characteristics of the abuser including religiosity, incest, forms of assistance and responses, limitations of the study and the Church as an initiator of social change.
