An interim report describing the findings of a research project undertaken during 1997 and 1998 into the practical impacts of changes to the Family Law Act that came into operation in June 1996. The aim of the project is to assess the immediate and longer term effects of the changes over a three year period. The research involved interviews with Family Court judges and judicial registrars, family law solicitors and barristers; a survey of Family Court and other counsellors and mediators; observation of interim hearings; and analysis of a selection of pre-and post-reform act interim and final judgements and orders.en
