Notes: | This US systematic review suggests that existing trauma interventions for survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) address traumatic experiences, often isolated incidents, which occurred in the past. As such, the authors highlight the insufficient interventions for women who continue to experience, or are at risk of experiencing, IPV and the resulting physical and psychological harm. They state that there is minimal research that explores the effectiveness of existing evidence-based trauma interventions and that evaluates adaptations of these interventions specific to IPV survivors’ experiences. This review analyses existing methods of trauma-based treatment for PIV survivors, and concludes by identifying risks and recommending future directions in this area. |
