| dc.description.notes | Final Report to the Engleshire Domestic Violence Homicide Review Group<br/ >July 2007<br/ >General Overview: This UK report presents findings of an investigation of seven intimate partner homicide cases in Engleshire, to determine the level of knowledge of families and informal network members regarding the violence. It is the final report to the Engleshire Domestic Violence Homicide Review Group.<br/ ><br/ >Discussion: During one year in Engleshire (UK) there was an unusual cluster of cases of Intimate Partner Femicide (IPF), two of which involved perpetrator suicide. In these cases there had been no prior agency involvement and what appeared to be minimal previous violence. The key question for the research was to examine families and informal network members to determine the extent of their knowledge about the situations leading up to the homicides. A literature review was conducted, analysis made of the case file data on seven cases, semi structured interviews carried out with informal networks of victims and perpetrators, as well as with key professionals. The report describes the methodology, discusses the cases, giving details of all interviews carried out and issues drawn from the literature review.<br/ ><br/ >Several recommendations are made for future policy and practice by all agencies. The authors strongly recommend expansion and development of training of informal network members, community education about the risks of domestic violence, a greater emphasis on patterns of coercive control in definitions of IPV and consideration of risk factors. | en |
