This report presents the findings from The Salvation Army’s Northside Women’s Services Project on Sydney’s North Shore in terms of services available on the North Shore, and the objectives of educating women about domestic violence; allowing women to talk to a support worker; and guiding women in overcoming their experiences of domestic violence. Stakeholders’ perspectives of service delivery looked at The Salvation Army’s mission to community services including crisis assistance services, and the Project’s benefactor for the Project to assist women in getting out of violent relationships and to educate women about domestic violence. Clients’ or victims or survivors’ views found the Northside Women’s Services presented a more practical recovery therapy method. Some of the key recommendations focused on improving service and staff response to domestic violence which included: broader client intake; child case work to form an integral part of service delivery to respond to children who are experiencing violence or witnessing violence; and preventative case management for women who have left violence. Process of service referral, referring agencies and client intake; and the AVO court process and relevant statistics are also presented.en
