Based on a review of existing research and publications, this report provides an overview of the economic effects of interpersonal violence in a range of contexts and examines the impact of various interventions in different cultural and socio-economic settings. Specific types of costs associated with interpersonal violence are then outlined, including child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, youth violence and gang violence. The role of poverty, income equality and other structural factors in perpetuating interpersonal violence is also highlighted and directions for future research and policy are identified.en
