dc.description.notes | This report draws together the most recently available statistics on crime in Australia, identifying key trends and administrative processes relevant to their analysis. In Part One, data on reported crime, its location and the findings of victimisation surveys are presented. Part Two comprises selected crime profiles, including homicide, assault and sexual assault. Trends in alleged offender characteristics are identified in Part Three, and Parts Four to Six examine the structure of the criminal court, the correctional system and criminal justice expenditure on various types of crime. Part Seven presents a series of drug-related statistics. The findings reveal a majority of crimes occur in residential locations, that a vast majority of female victims of homicide and assault knew and/or were intimate with the offender and that similar patterns were not reflected in the male victim population. | en |
