dc.description.abstract | "Male Champions of Change (MCC) aim to achieve gender equality and accelerate the advancement of more women into<br/ >leadership positions.<br/ ><br/ >Domestic and family violence is a pervasive issue in our community and it impacts our workplace. Inspired by courageous advocates such as Rosie Batty and Kristy McKellar, the MCC have taken a leadership position on domestic and family violence. They recognised that they could not champion gender-balanced leadership without addressing domestic and<br/ >family violence, whose victims are overwhelmingly women.<br/ >In November 2015, MCC released Playing Our Part – a report that set out a three-phase model for addressing domestic and<br/ >family violence as a workplace issue.<br/ ><br/ >At that time, MCC also decided to engage in the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence Campaign by:<br/ ><br/ >1 Integrating 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, into our corporate calendar.<br/ ><br/ >2 Taking part in the 16 Days of Activism by integrating messages about domestic and family violence into our meetings, speeches and communications.<br/ ><br/ >Importantly, underpinning all of this work is an acceleration of efforts to ensure our workplace's culture, policies and processes support those impacted by violence, deal with perpetrators of violence, and address the underlying cause of<br/ >domestic and family violence – gender inequality.
