Notes:  Narrates older women's experiences of violence in the home and its long term effects and consequences. These voices are gathered in a project that involves around two hundred and fifty self-identified older women in New South Wales and the ACT. They speak up about stories of violence as children, younger and older women. It was revealed that most of the perpetrators were men- partners, fathers, brothers, sons and uncles. The issues addressed in this paper are survival strategies, getting help, leaving the violence, independence and empowerment.
