Notes:  Describes the implementation of a four-phase Domestic Violence Community Response strategy that incorporates the Fax Back for Aggrieved and Respondents project. This integrated response that assembles government and community organisations was developed by the Logan River Valley Integrated Community Response (ICR) to Domestic Violence Group located in south-eastern Queensland. Phases One and Two of the eight-year strategy (1999-2006) are currently active. The responses of the police and the relevant services are coordinated to prevent further violence and to reduce its effects. Police ask the aggrieved and respondent persons if they would like to be contacted by the Fax-Back project workers. If consent to the contact is given, the police send a fax to the social workers, who phone the aggrieved person (Phase One) to develop a safety plan and/or the respondent person (Phase Two) to link them to perpetrator programmes. The results of an evaluation of Phase One and other outcomes of the project are also provided.
