The Kinks and Bends project was developed as part of the Central Coast Violence Against Women Regional Action Plan in response to community concerns about the high incidence of date rape in young people. The project’s aim has been to encourage young women to explore and express issues surrounding violence in relationships in a creative way through a series of educative workshops. This paper describes the process of creating an art piece in the workshops which, would provide community education to other young people, understanding of violence and abuse and therefore possible solutions to reducing violence against young women.
