Notes: | This conference paper outlines the Partnership Against Domestic Violence’s ‘Training Delivery Model for Rural Health Professionals’ project which began in April 2000. The project’s goal is to provide an information resource to general practitioners and to expand to include information and education to rural health professionals across the state. To achieve this goal it aims to develop a nationally applicable best practice model that encompasses a range of resources and approaches for providing support, conducting training and continuing education and education dissemination to rural health professionals. The process to establish this model involved consulting with key stakeholders in the field and conducting a literature review. The model developed has two main groups of strategies, education for health professionals and working with communities – information, education and support. At this stage the project officer is working with several service providers from rural communities to develop training and information resources. |
