Notes:	Examines the theme of silence and the barriers to discussing violence against women, particularly in the home. The ways in which silence occurs on an individual level is explored, as well as the denial of society that violence exists, or that it is a public issue. Pathologising violence is a way of silencing victims even further. Discusses the use of narrative theory and storytelling by professionals (for example, lawyers) as a way of providing victims with the opportunity to speak out against violence. Also discusses ways in which primary dispute resolution, such as mediation and counselling, is beginning to break the silence around violence.
