Notes: | General Overview: In a paper to the National Homelessness Conference, workers from Immigrant Women’s Support Service discuss barriers to housing for women from Non-English Speaking Backgrounds [NESB] and practice strategies to support their specific needs. The Brisbane based speakers identify the greater risk of homelessness that NESB clients experience, due to barriers to reporting family violence and a lack of access to information about family violence and support services. The speakers suggest that incorporating inclusivity practices into support and information services would decrease the risk of homelessness for women from NESB. |
