Notes:  Slide presentation on the International Violence Against Women Survey (IVAWS), a multi-country, cross-cultural project that builds on the International Crime Victimization Survey and Statistics Canada’s 1993 national survey. The IVAWS, in which 22 countries are participating, aims to assess the prevalence, nature and patterns of physical, sexual and psychological violence against women by intimate male partners, other known or acquainted males and strangers. Presents issues concerning cross-cultural research, ethical concerns, definitions of violence, and benefits of the project. Also provides an outline of the project’s time frame and a list of the participating countries.
