Notes: | This research seeks to identify strategies that enable more effective collaboration between practitioners in the fields of domestic violence and child protection. Interviews with NSW service providers showed that some agencies recognise domestic violence as a child protection issue. As a result, reporting to the Department of Community Services is viewed as an instrument to empower women rather than a judgment of her parenting. However, not all government and non-government agencies working with women and children have an understanding of the issue. Therefore, interagency guidelines need to be developed. |
