Notes:	This paper explores the relevance and usefulness of the major models of crime prevention to prevent violence against women. The author critically appraises the implementation of the situational, social, developmental and criminal justice approaches of crime prevention, and makes reference to some successful examples for women. Some of the issues raised are public responsibility for crime prevention; involvement of non-violent man in crime prevention programmes; a holistic model that includes victims, offenders and potential offenders; and alternative responses to the criminal system.
