Notes: | Explores general practitioners’ knowledge, training and its implementation in the partner abuse management field. Interviews with GPs revealed that lack of understanding of domestic violence and cultural barriers imperil women’s safety and health. Doctors’ subjectivities such as gender, culture and education affected what they perceived, inquired about and diagnosed. The author proposes mindful practice education to alert GPs to the impact their own particular characteristics have on their practices, and the development of guidelines that establish addressing domestic violence as a professional responsibility. |
