Notes:  Explores the strategies and challenges involved in engaging rural communities to address violence against women. Rural communities are diverse; however, some challenging attributes such as geographic isolation, limited range of services and particular ideologies, are common. The authors, who are Regional Violence Prevention Specialists, are working with rural groups to bring out and expand issues of violence against women in the community. Similarly, they are forging partnerships with workers from government, non-government and community agencies and community members to identify concerns, develop strategies and implement programmes.
